Verstappen wins fourth consecutive Formula 1 title

Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen finished fifth in the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which was held on the city track, and became the world champion ahead of schedule.

Following the race, Verstappen became unattainable for the second-placed Briton Lando Norris, who needed to score three points more than Verstappen at the Las Vegas Grand Prix to maintain his chances for the title. Norris finished sixth. The winner of the race was British Mercedes driver George Russell, who started from pole position. Second place went to his compatriot and teammate Lewis Hamilton (+7.313 seconds), and the top three was rounded out by Spaniard Carlos Sainz from Ferrari (+11.906).

The top 10 also included: 4. Charles Leclerc (Monaco, Ferrari); 7. Oscar Piastri (Australia, McLaren); 8. Nico Hulkenberg (Germany, Haas); 9. Yuki Tsunoda (Japan, RB); 10. Sergio Perez (Mexico, Red Bull). Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpine) retired on lap 16, while Thailand’s Alexander Albon (Williams) retired on lap 26.
